Jeff Alt, 27, is a client at Goodwill in Cedar Rapids, where he assembles piece work. He's also a songwriter who has penned "God, Help Us On Our Way," a tribute to the victims and volunteers of the 2008 flood in Cedar Rapids and Linn County. The song is sung to the tune of Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA."
Alt sang his song at a Goodwill of the Heartland Board Meeting last month and for the Journey of Hope bicyclists riding through town to raise money for adults with special needs.
Alt was interviewed by Gazette reporter, Dave Rasdal, and featured in a story that ran in the Gazette on September 7, 2008. Mr. Rasdal also recorded the video (above).
